About the Founder Israa Hilles
Israa Hilles has over fifteen years of management experience. She is the winner of multiple accolades, including Top Young Woman Entrepreneur 2015, Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year 2018, and Top 25 New Canadian Immigrants 2020.
She grew up in the United Arab Emirates. Later, she pursued Arts for Media in Palestine after earning a degree in Human Resources.
Despite difficulties in her home country of Palestine, Israa returned to one of the most disputed areas of her homeland, the “Gaza strip.” There she got an opportunity to work for DAI-USAID in Gaza, which enabled her to grow into the brave and inspiring leader she is today, which is an inspiration for many young girls.
She got a job in Jordan after completing her university studies in Egypt, where she studied management.
Israa got another life-changing opportunity after working at DAI-USAID for almost a decade when she began the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development with an emphasis on building and developing shared workspace.
During this time, she traveled across numerous cities and states in the US, including Washington DC, San Francisco, Florida, New York, and Michigan. This fueled her latest travel-related passion. She started exploring cities including Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, New Brunswick, Halifax, and Prince Eduardo and learned French along the way.
Israa founded Escritoire in Montreal, Quebec, after winning an award from the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States. This led to her winning other accolades.
She is also known for authoring many bestsellers, including names like “Ordinary to Extraordinary,” a journey of five strong girls who fought their way through misery to win and live like a champion. Another of her masterpieces is titled “Overcome that obstacle: It’s time to overcome those obstacles and become an achiever,” which shows her readers how to conquer life’s difficulties.
