What Trump’s Policies Will Mean to You

A President like no other and a shift in politics never seen before- The US is moving towards a new era of political and social shifts that has never been witnessed before in our nation. Our presidential elections left the world in shock and right-wingers in awe. With dynamics changing by the day, it is becoming difficult to say anything for certain. Will America really be great again or will there be a policy cleanup that will leave the taxpayers sulking?

Trump's Policies

Trump’s Policies

Trump didn’t leave any stones unturned to hit right at his electoral promises. The President has a strong opinion on everything, be it homeownership or immigration. He has signed 7 executive orders and 11 presidential memoranda as on 31st January. The most controversial order is related to immigration. Trump must face issues of an inflated dollar and an overly optimistic stock market showing signs of imminent doom. The country is under a $20 trillion debt, half of which was added in the past decade. His policies are strong. Here is what they may possibly bring.

Executive Order on Affordable Care Act

Trump has asked for a prompt repeal of some parts of Obamacare. The affordable care act by former President Barack Obama will now be scaled back. In fact, Trump took this decision on the very first day of presidency, sending a clear signal to the nation. With this new directive, Trump has given more power to the states to take care of their healthcare markets. Moreover, insurance companies will also be free to come up with insurance products that defy state boundaries.

This will clear the market for healthier competition. However, as the bureaucracy is given more power to loosen the regulations of the act and “waive, defer, grant exemption from, or delay” any penalties and taxes, we will see a lesser financial burden posed by Obamacare. It is important to note that national debt doubled under Obama’s presidency, mostly due to his socialist measures like Obamacare which posed a huge burden on taxpayers. Now the burden will be gone off our shoulders while healthcare industry remains intact.

Refugee Ban

Trump has banned refugees from Syria to enter the nation indefinitely. He has also banned people from seven Muslim majority countries to enter the US. The refugee program has been suspended and a cap has been put on this number which is 50,000 a year. This kind of policy may seem too strong but if we reflect on the benefits, this order seems correct. 250 Americans have joined terrorist groups till date and the Islamic State has inspired more than 60 terror attacks and plots around the world.

Trump signing the order to ban refugees will help in keeping the US away from social problems. After all, we do not want another incidence like Germany on our streets. We want a safe America that allows diversity but does not allow radicalization of our people by outsiders. It is not a ban against Islam as claimed by liberals. It is simply a ban on terrorism.

Border Security

The question of immigration can invoke highly radicalized arguments. It is true that immigration in the US has created problems related to jobs and distribution and wealth in the county. President Trump has repeatedly talked about creating a wall along the Mexico border to discourage illegal immigration. President’s plans to build a wall are complex but his intentions are correct and surely, the authorities will come up with the right plan to use taxpayers’ money to good use.

Trump’s policies will be widely discussed and some of his executive orders, including the Mexican wall, will need to be presented to the Congress for better scrutiny. However, his policies send a clear signal that America is finally going to take a stronger stance and come up with measures that will be beneficial to its own citizens first.
